This might be a little big of a topic to try and take on, but this is extremely intriguing to me. A long time ago, I saw the Nova special "The Elegant Universe" and started thinking endlessly about it. I started doing some basic research on the topic and even considered taking a major in a related field of study once I reached college. I don't think that's what I want to end up doing now, though.
Anyway, the whole concept of 'M' theory (string theory) amazes me. One of the core things behind it is that all of the universes exist on a three-dimensional plane. Let's analyze that, isn't the idea of a three-dimensional plane somewhat oxymoronic? That concept takes a bit of thought to wrap around. Then the thought that all matter is composed of strings, which are open ended and 'glued' to that plane. Then there are the close ended strings which compose gravity particles.
How can gravity be a particle? I don't think I'll ever understand this one without becoming a... (don't know what it's called) something that involves more math than my mind can process. And what's up with an open ended string moving about stuck to a 3-D plane? I can imagine a string stuck to a plane and moving around X and Y, but for some reason I can't visualize the string moving it's position on the Z axis.
